sphecodis [σφηκώδης], (w. versus understood or as sb. m.) hexameter that ends with an iambus as distinct from a spondee. quid est miuros vel spicodis? ‥ spix dicitur Graece crabro, unde derivatur spicodis ‥. ad unam significationis regulam pertinere noscuntur, quia utraque animalia tenui et gracili membrorum extremitate terminantur: ita et versus, qui pirrichio clauditur, terminatur Aldh.
