An inscription scratched on the surface of a Greek vase after firing, and most often found on the underside of the vessel.

Description: A graffito inscription can include a signature, ligature, marks, groups of letters or groups of numbers. Graffiti differ from dipinti in that graffiti are signature, ligature marks, groups of letters or groups of numbers scratched into the surface of the vase, rather than painted on the vessel's surface.
