proconisus

PROCONISUS
, f. Perpolitus. Agnellus in S. Maximiano apud Murator. tom. 2. pag. 107 : Ecclesiam vero B. Andreæ Apostoli hic Ravennæ cum omni diligentia non longe a regione Herculanea columnis marmoreis suffulsit, ablatisque vetustis ligneis de nucibus, Proconisis decoravit. Idem in S. Felice : Prædictum altarium removit ex Proconiso lapide, cum diversis marmoribus ornatis mirifice. Rursum in S. Petro Chrysologo : Foris vero parietes Proconisis marmoribus decoravit.
Rectius a loco, unde marmor istud eruitur, nempe a Proconneso sive Præconneso, insula Propontidis, sumptam esse hanc appellationem opinantur docti Hagiographi tom. 7. Jul. pag. 184. col. 2.
